Highlights from the Weekend

ES and I had a wonderful time this weekend.

We spent time cleaning the house and catching up on laundry (you're right, those weren't the highlights). A large portion of it was also spent bewailing the apparent lack of grey matter of the Body Corporate. Our levies have shot up by 17 %. My credit card's less ruthless.

The main argument for this increase is that Eskom's looking at hiking it's rates by between 30 and 40 % (or, at least, so it was reported to the meeting - and I'm not entirely sure of the source's reliability). Now, I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but my electricity fee's normally added to my levy, not included in it. For the amount I'll be spending just on levies, I'd rather be living in Sandton. At least I wouldn't feel that paying something in 5-digit figures would be expected.

Judging by the staggering number of those outvoting me, I suspect there's a lot of money to be made if only there were an ethical way to donate said majority to scientific research.

Saturday was good: of the two stories I've sent off, I've been placed on a waiting list for both. As far as I'm concerned, neither have been outright rejections, so I'm pretty pleased on that one. We spent the majority of our evening with my buddy MW and his better half, SN. Great fun was had by all, although one dog (G) was trying her level best to gas us all into oblivion. So, great fun was had by all, excluding the mustard gas.

ES and I essentially stayed in on Sunday, watching DVDs. "Mirrors" must be the greatest horror movie made in recent times.

AND I HAVE A FOLLOWER!!!

Fair enough, it may be my sister, but YEEE-HAAAA anyway! Thanks, Fi.

  1. Hey, I watched mirrors last weekend. Not too bad. At least it was not one of those Ha Ha horrors, (well...not to spoil it for others, but what was up with that witch spider?)

  2. The "witch spider" was a nun. I think that's why she looked like a witch. And I wouldn't be surprised if all of that sequence wasn't a homage to "The Exorcist". It definitely had a bigger set of gonads than the junk Hollywood's been spewing out recently, though. Another sick one ES and I saw quite a while back is called "Creep". That's just a clorified splatter movie. One you'd definitely have to watch alone, that's for sure (I'm sure you know who I'm talking about).
