E.C Stanke III, the editor of Necrography, and Bill, the editor of Big Pulp, both e-mailed me the acknowledgement of receipts at around midnight last night (probably their yesterday lunchtime or morning, depending on which timezone they're in).
E.C. has promised a response, although it may take a few months due to their slush pile, and Bill's promised a response by the end of April latest.
So, all in all, that means there're four of my manuscripts currently under review - and one still waiting for acknowledgement ("Salvation Road").
And I'm as proud of that as I've been of anything. No outright rejections yet again. So there's a glimmer of hope.
Something I'm doing at home that I hope will tweak some of your interest is I'm compiling each story that's gone out in my own little anthology (called "Dead Memories" - the title of a Slipknot song that's so beautifully poetic). At the end of this year's submission run, should any of the stories be accepted for publication, I'll be requesting permission to reprint them and probably just spend a bit of capital for a small press run of my own, through a vanity publisher, just to be able to see these little starters in black-on-white.
It'll form a little keepsake should I ever manage to make a break to the big league.
If people are interested, let me know and maybe I'll consider making a couple of chapbooks. That way, those of you who're being so kind as to share my trials and tribulations with me on this seemingly inpossible quest to fulfill a lifelong dream will have something tangible to prove it.
