It's been a while (since I could... Hold my head up high...)
Old rockers will probably recognise that as one of Stain'd's first (and, to the best of my knowledge, only) hits. But what I'm really talking about is posting here on the blog.
A friend of mine in Canada (blame her, she did it) contacted me via gmail to let me know she managed to read a post. She also extended an invite to ES and me to go see that part of the world sometime. Apparently, you can still tell the difference between seasons up there. That's freaking amazing. And as long as it snows up North, I guess we can set aside our fears of a cosmic defrosting on a global scale.
Welcome, Mrs. Spock.
You know, writing's more a habit than an art.
For those of you interested, I'm currently working on a piece called "The Hunter" for an anthology: "The Devil's Food". The plot's strong, one of the characters is "real" - but because I've let my writing slip in favour of the work that actually butters my bread (what am I thinking?) it's getting harder to put pen to paper (with the accounting acumen of JHB City Power, leaving a light on longer than it takes to find the switch to turn it off could bankrupt you).
Their guidelines say there has to be a supernatural element - that's definitely there. It's one of those stories I'm actually excited about, but just can't get around to writing.
Seeing as though the cosmos is not going to boil me, it's found a different way to commit its habitual sodomy upon my person.
Talking about pains in the ass: there's one particular one that's plaguing me and just won't go away. Perhaps when I say "No" others hear "Yes", so I should say "Yes" so this source of pain hears "No". Of course, if that tactic fails, I'm pretty poked. (That's "poked" with an "f".)
You may notice, if you have a glance around this post, that there are as many as three images that are completely unrelated to anything I've mentioned thus far. You may also notice that they're just tacked to the top. That's because I have no idea how to move them. Working on it.
The reason for this is simple: they look pretty; they make the page look pretty; they might attract more attention. I think once I'm a little better acquainted with this whole blog-thingy, I might try to do something a little less off key. Maybe I'll track down the sound of a whizzpop for all you Roald Dahl fans.
And develop smellovision for those who aren't.
Anyway, I'm getting quite nervous with the end of the month on its way. Not only does it mean impending professional catastrophes and me taking a look over the edge of my small platform of sanity: it means I should be hearing from RAW. (The publishers. Not the wrestlers. You seen my profile pic? That would just be murder, plain and simple.)
I think I'm more excited about that than I am about pay day.
Not really. No.
